Step 1. Mix the Dry Ingredients:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, matcha powder, and salt.
  • This removes lumps and creates even color throughout the cookies.

Step 2. Cream the Butter and Sugar:

  • In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  • Add egg and vanilla extract, beat again until smooth.

Step 3. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures:

  • Slowly add the matcha-flour mixture to the butter mixture.
  • Mix until a soft dough forms—do not overmix.
  • If the dough is too soft, refrigerate it for 10–15 minutes.

Step 4. Shape the Cookies:

  • Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 tbsp each).
  • Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Gently press the top with your fingers or a fork for a design.

Step 5. Bake the Cookies:
