Instructions
Step 1. Mix the Dry Ingredients:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, matcha powder, and salt.
- This removes lumps and creates even color throughout the cookies.
Step 2. Cream the Butter and Sugar:
- In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until fluffy (about 2 minutes).
- Add egg and vanilla extract, beat again until smooth.
Step 3. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures:
- Slowly add the matcha-flour mixture to the butter mixture.
- Mix until a soft dough forms—do not overmix.
- If the dough is too soft, refrigerate it for 10–15 minutes.
Step 4. Shape the Cookies:
- Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 tbsp each).
- Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Gently press the top with your fingers or a fork for a design.
Step 5. Bake the Cookies:
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes.
- The edges should look set but not browned—matcha burns easily and can turn brown.
Step 6. Cool & Enjoy:
- Let cookies cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
- Enjoy with tea, coffee, or pack them as a gift!
