Korean Barbecue Meatballs

Instructions

Step 1. Make the Meatballs:

  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, egg, breadcrumbs, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper, and ginger.
  • Mix until well combined. Roll into small balls (about 1–1.5 inches wide).
  • Place meatballs on a lined baking sheet or plate.

Step 2. Cook the Meatballs:

Option 1: Bake

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place meatballs on a baking tray and bake for 18–20 minutes, until fully cooked.

Option 2: Pan-fry

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook meatballs in batches, turning to brown all sides, for 8–10 minutes until cooked through.

Step 3. Make the Korean BBQ Sauce:

  • In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, gochujang, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Mix cornstarch and water, then stir into the sauce.
  • Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Step 4. Coat the Meatballs:

  • Add cooked meatballs to the sauce and toss to coat.
  • Simmer for a minute to let flavors absorb.
