How to Make Breaded Mozzarella with Spices
Step 1. Prep the Coating Station:
- In one bowl, mix flour with half the spice blend (garlic, onion, paprika, herbs, salt, pepper).
- In another bowl, beat the eggs.
- In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs with the remaining spices.
Step 2. Coat the Mozzarella:
- Roll each mozzarella piece in flour → dip in egg → coat in seasoned breadcrumbs.
- For extra crunch, double dip: egg → breadcrumbs again.
- Place coated pieces on a tray and freeze for 30–60 minutes (prevents leaking when frying).
Step 3. Fry Until Golden:
- Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry 3–4 mozzarella pieces at a time for 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Step 4. Serve Hot:
- Serve with warm marinara, garlic aioli, ranch, or spicy ketchup.
Tips:
- Make it spicy: Add chili flakes or cayenne to the breadcrumb mix.
- Air fryer option: 400°F for 5–7 minutes, flip halfway.
- Make ahead: Freeze breaded mozzarella and fry straight from frozen.
